2013 United States hardwood lumber exports reached a record 14.63 billion board feet, this is 2009 (8.02 million Ban Yingchi) American hardwood lumber exports bottomed out for fourth consecutive years. The data recorded a record of exports to China and Vietnam, the highest in seven years in Mexico, a 2% drop in exports to Canada, and a record low for Europe.
Approximately 60% of international buyers demand for North American hardwood was higher in January than in February, nearly 80% of people said the supply will tighten. At the same time, the export price index rose by, the price of red oak and white oak increased by 3%, and the price of red oak and white oak rose by nearly 12 in the last 30% months.
International buyers on the rise in prices and supply tight responses vary widely: many buyers in order to control the cost of buying low grade of products, some buyers reduce purchases and hope that the near future prices, some buyers worry about future prices will continue to rise and increase the purchasing quantity.
